Executive Program 2026 Arts & Culture Day
On April 17, 2026, the Leadership Memphis Executive Program Class of 2026 gathered at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art for Arts & Culture Day — an immersive experience exploring the vital role arts, storytelling, creativity, and cultural institutions play in shaping the identity and future of Memphis.
Throughout the day, cohort members engaged with artists, cultural leaders, creatives, and community changemakers whose work continues to influence the social, economic, and civic fabric of our city. Conversations centered around the power of the arts to preserve history, foster belonging, drive economic development, amplify underrepresented voices, and create spaces for healing, dialogue, and community connection.
Participants explored how Memphis’ creative ecosystem extends far beyond entertainment — serving as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization, education, tourism, entrepreneurship, advocacy, and collective identity. Through thoughtful discussion and reflection, the cohort examined both the opportunities and challenges facing the arts sector and considered how civic leaders can more intentionally invest in and support creative communities.
The cohort also heard from Memphis Brooks Museum leadership about the future of the museum and the exciting development of the new Memphis Brooks Museum of Art campus, which will be located on Front Street in Downtown Memphis — a transformational investment in the city’s arts and cultural landscape. We are especially excited to welcome the new downtown museum when it opens this winter.
The experience also highlighted the unique cultural legacy of Memphis and the responsibility leaders share in preserving and advancing the stories, traditions, and artistic contributions that define our city.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art for hosting this meaningful experience for the Executive Program Class of 2026.
Arts & Culture Day served as a powerful reminder that thriving cities are not built through infrastructure alone — they are built through creativity, expression, and the people courageous enough to tell the story of a community.
