Make A Difference Week | October 20th-24th, 2025

Financial literacy presentation at Trezevant High School with LaKeshia Williams.

Volunteer Memphis proudly hosted Make a Difference Week from October 20–24, 2025, engaging students, families, and community members across Shelby County in a powerful week of financial education and empowerment. The week’s events focused on building practical skills in budgeting, credit, saving, and long-term financial planning through a combination of interactive demonstrations, workshops, and virtual sessions. Highlights included On Your Own demonstrations led by First South Financial at Wooddale High School, giving students a hands-on look at real-world financial decision-making; WYN2IT presentations at PURE Youth; and a Budgeting Basics and Creating a Spending Plan workshop facilitated by RISE Memphis at Power Center Academy. Additional sessions included EDGE’s interactive program at Kirby High School and a dynamic financial literacy presentation at Trezevant High School with LaKeshia Williams. Special thanks to our generous sponsors and partners—First South Financial, ACG Foundation, WYN2IT, RISE Memphis, South East Home Loans, and EDGE—for making Make a Difference Week 2025 a success. Through collaboration, service, and education, Volunteer Memphis continues to equip residents of all ages with the tools and confidence to build brighter financial futures.
