25 Years of Honoring Our Mid-South First Responders
On September 11, Volunteer Memphis, alongside the City of Memphis Fire Department, community partners, sponsors and volunteers, came together for our annual 9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance.
As our nation marked 25 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001, we chose to remember through service—honoring the courage, sacrifice and commitment of the first responders who continue to serve our community every day.
More than 200 volunteers joined us to deliver meals to hundreds of Mid-South first responders across more than 36 fire stations and battalions throughout the greater Memphis area. The day began with a Remembrance Rally at the Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library before volunteers headed across our community to personally say thank you to those who answer the call to serve.
Since 2019, Volunteer Memphis has proudly brought Memphians together for this annual tradition, turning remembrance into action and demonstrating the power of neighbors serving neighbors.
Thank you to our volunteers, sponsors, restaurant and catering partners, and first responders who made this meaningful day possible.
