Adult Mentoring – Did you have a mentor growing up? A teacher, coach, neighbor, or another adult who made a difference in your life? The Grizzlies Foundation started the Team Up Mentoring Initiative because of mounting evidence that mentoring helps young people to stay in school, aspire to higher achievement, further their education, develop self-esteem and a more positive vision for their own lives. Leadership Memphis alumni can help mentor in a number of different ways, but most importantly by providing young people with support, guidance, friendship, encouragement and a constructive example. The Grizzlies Foundation has over 30 different mentoring programs you can choose from – and you can check with them to determine which one best fits your schedule based on different time commitments, locations, and needs. You can even visit, or tour a mentoring site prior to signing up in order to make sure there is a good fit. Contact the Grizzlies Foundation to get involved with mentoring a child, or partnering with a young adult who is willing to learn.
