The agency’s mission is: To break the cycle of child abuse and neglect by providing prevention, intervention, educational and support services in an effort to replace abusive and/or violent behavior with effective parenting skills. The agency provides 23 programs for families going through the trauma of child abuse and/or domestic violence. The focus for all that we do is the child, but to keep the child safe and to change the abusive environment we provide many programs for the parent/adult caregiver. The services range from parenting education, anger management, in-home parent-aides, counseling, psychological assessments, to play therapy. (please see website for complete list).
We need Board members who have skills in the area of marketing, fundraising, media, pediatrics, etc. Currently have a 30 member Board.
The expectations of Board members are: to attend monthly Board meetings on the second Monday of each month at the Center (2180 Union) at 5:30, serve on a committee, and actively attempt to raise $5,000 in the community.

Developing Effective Male Mentors and Entrepreneurs
CA-CE) is a 501c3non-profit organization that was founded in 2007. The vision of CA-CE is to promote and prepare male teenagers and male adults to become effective mentors and entrepreneurs within their own communities and throughout the world by empowering them through various leadership roles.
Currently our organization is writing a proposal for a charter school.
We are asking Leadership Memphis to aid in appointing a member of your organization to serve as a charter school board member. An official meeting will be held Monday, August 31, 2009 at 6pm at the Benjamin Hooks Library (Humprey) room.
The responsibility of the board member will be to make sure on behalf of the school’s owners (taxpayers), that all students learn and nothing illegal, unethical or imprudent is allowed to exist in the school. Also, each board member is expected to attend a monthly board meeting.

Services Provided: MVAE offers approximately a half dozen concerts a year. 3-4 of these are main stage concerts and 2 are part of our salon soloist series offered in individual homes in the Memphis area.

Mission & Description: MSSNS is a non-profit spay and neuter clinic whose mission is to help decrease pet overpopulation. The clinic offers reasonably priced spay/neuter services to pet owners in the mid-south community. There are no income requirements. Located near the U. of Memphis.
Specific Board Membership Skills Needed: A passion for animals and animal welfare. We are looking for people with skills in any of these area: marketing, fund raising, community out reach, web design and maintenance, PR, and accounting/financial management.
Expectations: One board meeting first Monday of each month from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM. Members will normally volunteer 5-10 hours a month depending upon special events, committee work, etc.

Mission Ronald McDonald House of Memphis is a “home-away-from-home” for families who are in Memphis while their child is receiving treatment for cancer or another catastrophic illness at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. All families stay completely free of charge.
Organization Description Ronald McDonald House of Memphis is a 51-bedroom facility. All families that stay at Ronald McDonald House live more than 35 miles away and stay at the House from 7 to 90 days. Ronald McDonald House has a full time staff of 18 and volunteer support from more than 250 members of the community.

My wife and I have just formed a nonprofit foundation called the "Urevbu Foundation"
The purpose of the foundation is for sickle cell empowerment and education. My son Joshua Urevbu was born with sickle cell disease four years ago and he's been a great inspiration and an eye opener for us.
Sickle cell disease affects African Americans primarily and there is no cure. We're there foreseeking boardmembers with something to contribute to this course.
