Energized for action, several Leadership Memphis alumni volunteered for the United Way Day of Caring on September 12, 2008. “It time was well-spent,” said Diana Bedwell EP ‘07 as she left the BRIDGES Day of Caring event with other LM alumni.
Fifteen Leadership Memphis representatives acted as airline administrators as they mock-interviewed approximately 20 students who were working to receive their GEDs this fall. Each alumnus was paired with one student to give feedback and help them prepare to effectively “sell” themselves to prospective employers.
It was win-win! Leadership Memphis alums were uplifted by the determination of the young adults to pursue their goals and better their lives. The students got to spend time with “real life” business people by getting advice on how to land a job. The BRIDGES staff was extremely pleased with how the day went.
Way to go Leadership Memphis! Thank you to our staff and alums below who participated!
